Can You Take Iron and Pancreatin Together?

May affect absorption

The short answer

Pancreatin raises intestinal pH through its bicarbonate content and enzymatic activity, which can reduce iron solubility and absorption. Non-heme iron is best absorbed in an acidic environment.

How to arrange timing

Take iron supplements at least 1 hour apart from pancreatin. Iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach.

Important context

Whether supplements suit you together also depends on dose, product formulation, health conditions, and medication use. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a chronic condition.
