Can You Take L-Carnosine and L-Histidine Together?

May affect absorption

The short answer

L-Carnosine is a dipeptide of beta-alanine and L-Histidine. Both compete for intestinal peptide/amino acid transporters, and exogenous histidine may interfere with carnosine's intact absorption via PepT1.

How to arrange timing

Separate L-Carnosine and L-Histidine by at least 1 hour to avoid transporter competition.

Important context

Whether supplements suit you together also depends on dose, product formulation, health conditions, and medication use. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a chronic condition.
