Can You Take Calcium and Resistant Starch Together?

May affect absorption

The short answer

Resistant Starch is an insoluble fiber that may bind calcium in the GI tract, reducing its absorption when taken simultaneously. Fermentation in the colon may partially enhance colonic calcium uptake.

How to arrange timing

Separate resistant starch and calcium supplements by at least 2 hours for optimal absorption.

Important context

Whether supplements suit you together also depends on dose, product formulation, health conditions, and medication use. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a chronic condition.
