Can You Take Beta-Alanine and Sodium Bicarbonate Together?
May affect absorption
The short answer
Both beta-alanine (via carnosine) and sodium bicarbonate buffer exercise-induced acidosis through different mechanisms — intracellular and extracellular respectively. While complementary, the additive alkalizing effect may cause GI distress.
How to arrange timing
Research supports combining these for enhanced buffering capacity. Use conservative sodium bicarbonate doses (0.2–0.3 g/kg) to manage GI side effects.

Important context
Whether supplements suit you together also depends on dose, product formulation, health conditions, and medication use. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a chronic condition.
