Can You Take Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 Together?
Yes. They have complementary roles in calcium metabolism, but evidence does not show that everyone taking D3 must add K2.
The short answer
Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 have complementary roles in calcium metabolism, but current evidence does not support a universal rule that they must always be paired.
Why it happens
Vitamin D increases production of some vitamin K-dependent proteins, while vitamin K helps carboxylate those proteins so they can function normally.
What to do
They can be taken together with no fixed gap. Aim for adequate intake and do not treat “K2 is mandatory with D3” as an established rule.
When this advice applies
Clinical trials of combined supplementation remain limited, and K1, MK-4, and MK-7 are not interchangeable in every context. Do not change vitamin K intake on your own if you use warfarin.
