Can You Take Prenatal Vitamin and Vitamin A Together?
Dose or timing may matter
The short answer
Prenatal vitamins contain vitamin A (typically 770 mcg RAE). Additional vitamin A supplementation during pregnancy may lead to teratogenic levels. Excess preformed vitamin A (retinol) above 3,000 mcg RAE/day is associated with birth defects.
How to arrange timing
Do not take additional vitamin A supplements during pregnancy unless directed by a healthcare provider. Prenatal vitamin A content is calibrated for pregnancy needs.

Important context
Whether supplements suit you together also depends on dose, product formulation, health conditions, and medication use. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a chronic condition.
